In this class, I want to learn how to utilize a variety of different online tools. I am looking forward to creating and designing numerous assignments on Microsoft applications as well as other websites like Canva, Padlet, and Blogger. While I am not currently planning on becoming a teacher, using these resources will be extremely helpful in Law School. As an aspiring attorney, knowing how to work on Microsoft processing systems can definitely expose me to a more efficient way to write memos, briefs, pleadings, and contracts.
My prior experience using technology in an educational setting is diverse across numerous operating platforms. My first experience with technology in the classroom was using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint in middle school. I mostly used Microsoft Word for homework assignments, which required me to write about the topics discussed in class. I also used Microsoft PowerPoint for the purposes of presenting group projects for a variety of classes. When transitioning into high school, I was provided with a school Google account, so I used the Google Drive system for four years. I mostly used Google Docs, Google Slides, and Google Sheets. I found that both Google and Microsoft were similar in design but had unique functions for each style of system offered. I have preferred using the Google Drive system in college as I find it easier to save, share, download, and create my work. I have also used both processing systems within my first semester in college, based on the professor's preference.
My existing personal learning network is full of support, love, and mentorship. I remain close to my past teacher, who helped introduce me to my passion for the law. This connection helps me maintain that two year student teacher relationship, so I can continue to learn from her insight. Similar to my past teacher connection, I have stayed in contact with my past Mock Trial coach for three years in high school because interning with him allowed for me to see my future career goals come to life. With my current professors, I have created a positive relationship that will act as a mentorship for my field of study. My family and friends have always been a part of my personal learning network, as they always support me beyond my academic career. I also like to include Disney as part of my personal learning network, as being in touch with my childhood helps me visualize how far I've grown as a student, daughter, and friend. I have been a dancer for 16 years, so I constantly browse the internet for online dance classes or videos of dances to just admire. To support this continuation for my love of dance, I use Youtube to find the resources I mentioned before. I also use social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok to follow famous dancers and/or teams like FSU Golden Girls, Ohio State Dance Team, and/or Ava Wagner.
Even though you're not planning to become a teacher I think your mindset toward this class is very healthy. The skills that you can develop here will be helpful in any field, especially law!
