When thinking about my experience of distance learning, I would say that mine has overall been positive. Pre-COVID I did watch a lot of educational T.V. shows like Dora the Explorer that helped me continue my education outside of the classroom, which I did enjoy. Then, during COVID, it was easy to adapt to asynchronous classroom styles because of the location divide. I was able to become better at my time management skills, as I was already a very independent learner, doer, and person in general. I also enjoyed taking my own path on how I was able to retain the information. For example, when watching a video in class, the teacher controls the speed, pausing, volume, etc. However, when I was at home learning, I was able to have full control of all the electronic learning materials to aid how I learn best. This brings me to my current experience with distance learning. In college, I have had 2 online classes, both asynchronous. This has been nice for me to be able to focus on my in-person lectures, while taking my own speed towards my online classes. I, however, have never experienced a Hybrid or Flipped Classroom style. During my K-12 years, besides COVID, all my classes had the same structure: lecture, classwork, homework, repeat. While I did enjoy this style, I think based on my specific learning habits and time management skills, I still do prefer the freedom of an asynchronous classroom or just not having a heavily structured classroom.

When working on Assignment #4, I gained numerous skills regarding the PowerPoint platform. The first thing I learned was the different techniques of creating your own slide in a slide layout. I found this to be very helpful in my topic of lecture by being able to organize my thoughts the way I wanted and not just the way it was suggested. I also learned about the slide numbering and footer, but not only in the presentation but also in the Handout. I found this tool to be helpful, especially if teacher printed out their slides for their classroom, if they wanted to take it home. I also learned about inserting AltText for all my images and graphics. I enjoyed choosing what topic I wanted to discuss and how I chose to present the information. I also enjoyed having some artistic creativity with animations and transitions. One thing I wish was allowed for this assignment was outside slide themes. For example, I utilize SlidesGO to find cute and aesthetic themes for my slides in other classes. However, I understand why we were limited to the provided themes by PowerPoint.

Overall, this class has been very enjoyable. It has opened my eyes to what being a teacher looks like in terms of how technology is involved in the job. I have enjoyed the variation that is given throughout the semester, whether it's the topic of the lecture or the variation on what the assignments are. I also enjoy that we are not stuck to one topic for our "class" as a "teacher". I have basically "taught" all the subjects at this point, which is fun. I would recommend that maybe in the future that this class could offer the option for the students to get their Microsoft Certificate in these programs. This would highlight their proficiency throughout the semester, while also helping them for whatever is in their future.
