I have learned a variety of new skills when working on Assignment #5. The first skill I learned was what an Action Button was and how it is used. I have never used such a tool when creating a PowerPoint, so it was interesting to see how I could incorporate that into the presentation. Another skill I learned was how to add sound to my animations and transitions. I found this tool to be very a entertaining addition to my presentation. So far I enjoy the creative freeness I have for this assignment. I am also enjoying creating the questions for this assignment, as it also texts my knowledge on Disney Trivia. One thing I can tell that I am not going to enjoy is how time consuming the slide creations are going to take. However, I know it is going to turn out great and a fun experience for the people who dare to test their Disney knowledge.
If I were to become a 10th grade Intro to Law teacher I would use data collection tools for one specific reason. I would first use a survey as an indicator of my students knowledge of basic material within the first week of school, just to see where my students are and how I can proceed with what is taught. This survey would benefit both me and students, because I would then resend the same survey towards the end of the year to gauge how much my students have learned in my class. I would be able to compile quantitative and qualitative data that I can compare over my years of teaching. Since my current career path is to become an attorney, I could use data collection tools as a way to survey my clients' satisfactory level of my representation. I would ask every client to fill out the survey and receive feedback on my services. I could compile each response and compare over time to see my strengths and weaknesses. I could be able to post the positive responses to my website as testimony to my professionalism.
One technology skill I would like to learn next is how to use Excel Spreadsheet Shortcuts to quickly equate numbers.
S: The specific goal that I want to achieve is to learn the formulas to insert into an Excel Spreadsheet to help compute numbers from numerous cells.
M: I would ask professionals or tech savy people to help teach me what the skill is. To then eventually retain the skill so I could use it for my future career path.
A: This goal yet simple can be very helpful in the long run if I end up owning my own law firm and have to compute numbers in a spreadsheet for my firm.
R: I see myself retaining the information well and making sure that I continue the skill throughout my schooling.
T: I hope to have mastered this skill by Law School. While that is a long time to complete such a simple goal, I want to give myself ample time to practice the skill.
Overall I can see myself utilizing this skill anyway possible for research, legal studies, and career specific handlings. I think if I approach this goal with the correct/knowledgeable people, I will be able to reach my goal correctly.
